FIRST EUROPEAN TITLES IN THE TIME-TRIAL AWARDED IN BRNO

The Italian Vittoria Guazzini (Junior) and the Dutch rider Aafke Soet (Under 23)

are the new European champions

 

The Junior and Under 23 European Championships started today in Brno (Czech Republic) with Time-Trial races in the Women’s category. They will finish on Sunday 15 July in Zlin with the Road races.

The continental event opened with the Junior race, won by the Italian Vittoria Guazzini, 2017 World and European Champion in Track Team Pursuit: with a time of 17’00” (average of 40,590 km/h),  in front of the German Hannah Ludwig (17’08”) and the Pole Marta Jaskulska, third with a time of 17’11”.

In the Under 23’s, the title was won by Aafke Soet. The Dutch rider, already winner of a Junior European Time-Trial title in 2014, triumphed in a superb race riding the 23 km of the circuit in 33’24” at an average of  41,320 km/h. In second place was the German Lisa Klein in 1’05”, meanwhile Nikola Noskova (Czech Republic) won the bronze medal in a time of 34’32”.

Tomorrow, Friday 13 July, the European Championships continue with the Men’s Time-Trial races: Junior (23 km, start of the first rider at 9 am) and Under 23 (23 km, start of the first rider at 1 pm).
