FIRST FREESTYLE BMX EUROPEAN CHAMPS IN CADENAZZO (SUI)

Cadenazzo (map), a town in Switzerland, will be the venue of the first Freestyle BMX European Championships, a discipline that will also be part of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic programme. The event will be held from 10 to 13 October and will also count as a qualification event for the Olympic Games. A huge number of riders and fans from all over Europe will travel to the Canton of Ticino, to a modern facility designed to enhance the great show that this discipline has to offer and like for this event, to host international competitions.

The programme includes two days of racing (Thursday 10th and Friday 11th) with the eliminations Saturday 12th and the finals on Sunday 13th.

Rocco Cattaneo, President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme: « BMX Freestyle is a discipline that has significantly developed over the last few years in terms of the number of those practicing the sport especially young people. Currently, cycling is available in increasingly varied forms, which is extremely positive, because the bike can appeal to people with different skills and passions. The UEC has always been interested and aware of the latest developments, which is why we wanted this speciality to also have its own European Championships, especially as it soon will be on the Olympic programme in Tokyo».
