There's still almost a month to go before the historic first Championnats d’Europe des Grimpeurs take place in Switzerland on 30 July on the legendary 12,780 metre climb from Airolo to the 2091-metre-high Gotthard Pass.
This unique event will award the titles of European champion in the men's and women's Juniors, Under 23, Elites and Masters categories (age groups from 19 to over 75), with a special event reserved for cyclosportifs - all on the same day. It will be an opportunity for fans to see some of the best performers in international cycling, as well as some young talent, but above all it will be a time for sharing for many cyclists who will have the exclusive opportunity to compete against each other, with friends and with professionals.
It's a real cycling experience that can be enjoyed in a competitive spirit, but also and above all for the simple pleasure of testing yourself in an enchanting setting such as that of the 'serpentine' route characterised by rocks and 24 hairpin bends up to the summit of one of Europe's most famous passes.
Registrations will close on 25 July. - Clich here
