The revised scheduling of UEC events on the 2020 international calendars is taking shape and the date of the BMX Racing European Championships in Dessel (Belgium) has been set on 2, 3 and 4 October 2020.
The new date in the international calendar, which will award 7 European titles (Juniors, Under 23, Elite Men and Women and the Team Time Trial), will ensure that a high technical level is maintained as it is one of the most important events of the season.
Regarding other events, for the MTB Cross-Country Championships, previously scheduled in Graz-Statteg (Austria), the dates of 15, 16, 17 and 18 October were chosen in the new 2020 UCI MTB calendar. The search for an organiser is underway.
In agreement with the organising committee, the MTB Youth European Championships in Pila (Italy) scheduled from 28 July to 1 August have been cancelled.
Rocco Cattaneo, President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme: "In these very uncertain times that we are living, we are working on the re-organisation of calendars for all European events in order to give the cycling movement on our continent and all those involved in it, the space that it deserves on the international calendar. This is a difficult task, that we are putting all our efforts into together with the UCI, National Federations and all organisers, whom we would like to thank for their co-operation and commitment in dealing with these hectic weeks allowing us to resume full time activity, provided conditions allow. I would especially like to thank the Belgian Federation and the BMX 2000 DESSEL Off-Road club and its President, Frank Smets for having immediately supported our wish to stage the BMX European Championships, which are without doubt one of our key events.”
The Union Européenne de Cyclisme is continuing to work on the new calendar of events which will enable activity to be resumed from 1st July as announced by the UCI in full compliance with the measures of the various competent authorities (World Health Organization, local governments and the UCI), a calendar that prioritises health and the safeguarding of the cycling movement and all its sporting, financial and professional aspects.
