The Briton Kieran Reilly and Iveta Miculyčová (Czech Republic) won the BMX Freestyle Park European titles today at the 2023 European Games in Krakow-Małopolska (Poland), a multisport event involving 29 sports disciplines.
The Championships were held in the brand-new Krzeszowice skatepark with 46 internationally highly qualified riders from 19 countries.
After the exciting qualifying rounds on Wednesday, the finals were extremely close resulting in a win by Kieran Reilly with 92.33 points. The Briton beat the current European Champion, the French rider Anthony Jeanjean (90.80 points) and his compatriot Declan Lee Brooks (87.40).
Following an excellent performance in the last round, Iveta Miculyčová took the women’s title with 82.33 points. The rider from the Czech Republic, also gold medallist at Munich 2022, came ahead of the German Kim Lea Muller, second in the 2022 European Championships, with 79.66 points, and the French rider Laury Perez was awarded the bronze medal like last year with 77 points.
The next cycling events on the 2023 European Games in Krakow-Małopolska will be the Elite MTB Cross-Country event at Hilll Park in Krynica-Zdroj.
